Thanks to a day off and a little researching and browsing on my part, I stumbled upon what seems to perhaps be a new trend in heels: the flare. Neiman Marcus has been introducing it now with fashion labels like Miu Miu and Prada boasting the funky design. As most prefer and are familiar with stiletto, pump, or block heel shapes, the flared heel is making its mark for fall and just may be the heel you’ve been waiting for all along. It’s certainly not traditional and is very reminiscent of a retro era in time, which may work against the trend in some ways. Either way, I commend fashion designers for creating new and refreshing twists for the upcoming fashion seasons so that we’re not seeing the same things that we did last year because, let’s be quite honest, that’s not fun at all. Now I’m just curious to see if we’ll be seeing some knee-high boots with flared heels…

Get your Italian fashion fix with Prada’s Spring 2012 campaign. Retro-inspired, this line plays around with prints that look like they’re from an era in time long ago. The shapes and silhouettes of the dresses, skirts, and little one-piece suit are from a memory in time in which many of us probably never experienced first-hand, but the power of trend recycling and bringing back styles that once dominated a decade are enough for many of us to be able to feel the power of fashion and how it transforms as society and culture does. Citrus and blush tones rule the major garments and accessories that Prada has put out for spring. I love the fact that scarves are still present even when transitioning into spring, expect with this season, they’re lighter and being utilized in different ways, such as being used as a head scarf or being tied around the neck instead of draped over the shoulders or hanging loosely. That lemon tote is also great for spring (and even summer) and one that will be sure to catch the attention of those passing by. The idea of having these very fashion forward ladies adorned in their vintage frocks sitting on classic cars at a gas station is totally chic.
I haven’t done an S&H post in awhile so there’s no better time to do so than.. now! The heels that I chose are from Aldo and the color is enough to drool over. They’re a navy patent pump with a hidden platform, which I love because it gives you the extra height without looking obvious. Bremseth is glamorous and the perfect “date night” heel. There are various alternative colors, such as bronze, bone, medium silver, and black patent. I chose the navy in this case because I think it compliments the slate colored Prada bag very well. The bag, which is a classic leather tote, comes complete with protective metal feet, double top handles, and multiple interior pockets. The color is so subtle and pretty that it’s great for any occasion or any time of year, but most suitable for fall and winter. These items are a definite pair and a great introductory look for fall since summer is facing its tail end (try not to wince). Come on, fall is a fabulous time of year
and you know it. If you’re not convinced, take a second gander at its fashion trends and you may change your mind!
