Just when you thought that the typical “go to” shoe designers in fashion were Christian Louboutin, Jimmy Choo, and Manolo Blahnik, think again. You may or may not be familiar with the innovative Walter Steiger; if you are, you know how amazing and unique his shoe designs are. If you’re not familiar with him, you soon will be. In fact, as a company, “Walter Steiger” has been around since the early 1930s, but it was Walter Steiger junior who brought popularity and momentum to the brand, introducing it in boutiques in fashion capitals around the world. These little pieces of heaven can be purchased exclusively in Walter Steiger locations around the globe, but before you know it, his collection will be available in a Bergdorf Goodman near you. High quality and less-than-ordinary designs make a Walter Steiger shoe unique and easily recognizable. There’s no denying that crazy arch separating heel and shoe, giving any piece of footwear from the W.S. collection a high-fashion distinction. No wonder we can never have enough shoes.

Let’s face it: shoes make an outfit complete. As stylist Brad Goreski mentioned in one of his episodes of his new show, It’s A Brad, Brad World, shoes make the outfit. You can have a simple shirt on with jeans and the most outrageous and fabulous shoes, and the outfit instantly has new life to it. Heels of crazy structures, colors, textures, etc. take the mundane and take them to the next level. However, your shoes don’t necessarily have to look like an Alexander McQueen design or be wild and innovative like Jeffrey Campbell in order to be different. If you want a change, try a new pattern for size. Houndstooth on a shoe or Chevron speak for themselves and the shoe doesn’t have to have boatloads of decadence, tons of glitter, or a fin on the back (a little extreme, but hey) in order to make a statement and completely transform an outfit. Pattern trends that may become a big hit come the new season include the following:

Gradient

Prada Gradient Flat

Houndstooth

Houndstooth T-Strap Flats

Chevron

Chevron Print Peep-Toe Heel

Cut-out (Gradient)

Prada Saffiano Lux Tote in Slate; $1,560

I haven’t done an S&H post in awhile so there’s no better time to do so than.. now! The heels that I chose are from Aldo and the color is enough to drool over. They’re a navy patent pump with a hidden platform, which I love because it gives you the extra height without looking obvious. Bremseth is glamorous and the perfect “date night” heel. There are various alternative colors, such as bronze, bone, medium silver, and black patent. I chose the navy in this case because I think it compliments the slate colored Prada bag very well. The bag, which is a classic leather tote, comes complete with protective metal feet, double top handles, and multiple interior pockets. The color is so subtle and pretty that it’s great for any occasion or any time of year, but most suitable for fall and winter. These items are a definite pair and a great introductory look for fall since summer is facing its tail end (try not to wince). Come on, fall is a fabulous time of year

Aldo Bremseth Patent Heel in Navy; $90

and you know it. If you’re not convinced, take a second gander at its fashion trends and you may change your mind!
