Normally, after a major award show, I would go through an array of looks and dresses and critique them all, but for this round, since I didn’t personally catch the entire show, I’m going to tell you whose look I drooled over and whose I could have absolutely done without. From what I did see, though, I observed that nude, blush, and maybe even some plum were the dominant colors of the night. The nude and blush tones are beautiful, but they’re the ones that you have to be very careful with because if you wear a nude color that is similar to your own skin tone, then it’s nothing but a wash out because there’s no contrast and the color falls flat. However, when done right, it’s elegant, beautiful, and looks so feminine and fresh on whoever is wearing it. With that being said, I absolutely adored Charlize Theron in her Dior Couture number. She is so dedicated to the designer and for good reason. The high slit up the front, the plunging neckline, the embellishments on the dress, the airiness of it, the beautiful train, and the overall uniqueness of the design was jaw-dropping and one that I fell in love with. Her hair was simply swept to the side and she looked so striking.

On the other hand, I hate to say it, but something about the dress that Madonna sported made me cringe. I felt as though

Worst Dressed - Madonna in Reem Acra

the color is beautiful but one that was all wrong for this occasion. Also, the layers of squared satin material leading up to the bodice, which was glittery, and the sheen capped sleeves were just all wrong. She had too much jewelry on with such a sparkling gown and the exposure at the neckline for someone her age just didn’t look right. I didn’t like her hair and the whole look honestly appeared uncomfortable on her. Overall, this didn’t hit the mark. I think an Old Hollywood glam hairstyle with a black gown that was more sophisticated would have been appropriate for her. Thoughts?

The only thing more exciting than knowing which nominees will become award winners is wondering who is going to make the “best” and “worst” lists for their fashion choices. It continues to boggle my mind that so many A-list celebrities still wear some of the most atrocious designs I have ever seen. I hate to say it, but it makes you wonder why these rich and famous starlets don’t hire a stylist, and if they have one, what the hell was going through said stylist’s mind at the time. On the contrary, some stars looked absolutely stunning in their gowns and everything from head to toe was utterly perfect. Let’s take a moment and honor those who actually give a damn about what they’re wearing. My top three choices for best dressed celebrities are Nina Dobrev, Kelly Osbourne, and Heidi Klum.

Style Stunners

Nina Dobrev in Donna Karan. Look out, Red Carpet fashion at its finest! Nina rocks the red right out of this dress. The sweetheart neckline with the layered hemline on this curvaceous number makes her look like a goddess. It's simple with some flare at the bottom and it's not too much so that it's swallowing her small frame. So lovely!

Kelly Osbourne in J. Mendel. Who would have thought that Kelly Osbourne would ever look so incredibly stunning?! She looks amazing in this burgundy crimson mermaid-style gown. The strap placements and the shape of the dress is to-die-for on her. This is going to be a knock-out color for the season. She looks amazing.

Heidi Klum in Christian Siriano. She looks fashion-forward and straight off the runway. I think it's a classy move to represent a former "Project Runway" winner's piece. I love the skirt of the dress, the shoes, and this color against her skin tone.

As for the other end of the fashion continuum, my top three choices for worst looks at the Emmy Awards goes to Christina Hendricks, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Katie Holmes.

Fashion Fatalities

Christina Hendricks in Johanna Johnson. This washed-out number gives no mercy to her fair skin tone and fiery locks. A curvy woman like this should know how to play up her curves in a tasteful manner, not exploit them for all they're worth. It's cleavage-baring and very shapeless. The overall look cries for too much attention. Shame on her stylist!

Gwyneth Paltrow in Pucci. Let's face it; no one looks good in a two-piece "dress". This semi-translucent Indian-inspired piece was all wrong for this kind of event. It cuts her in half and makes her look boxy and just completely unflatters her entire body. This is horrible on so many levels. I would also like to see her do something a little more edgy and different with her look. She always looks the same to me, with drab, straight locks and simple makeup. She needs to pump up the volume a bit.

Katie Holmes in Calvin Klein. This ill-fitting, too-casual dress makes her look frumpy and does nothing for her figure at all. Her hair is an absolute mess and the look lacks elegance overall. Not to mention that horribly placed waist-belt.
