Thanks to a day off and a little researching and browsing on my part, I stumbled upon what seems to perhaps be a new trend in heels: the flare. Neiman Marcus has been introducing it now with fashion labels like Miu Miu and Prada boasting the funky design. As most prefer and are familiar with stiletto, pump, or block heel shapes, the flared heel is making its mark for fall and just may be the heel you’ve been waiting for all along. It’s certainly not traditional and is very reminiscent of a retro era in time, which may work against the trend in some ways. Either way, I commend fashion designers for creating new and refreshing twists for the upcoming fashion seasons so that we’re not seeing the same things that we did last year because, let’s be quite honest, that’s not fun at all. Now I’m just curious to see if we’ll be seeing some knee-high boots with flared heels…

Just when you thought that the typical “go to” shoe designers in fashion were Christian Louboutin, Jimmy Choo, and Manolo Blahnik, think again. You may or may not be familiar with the innovative Walter Steiger; if you are, you know how amazing and unique his shoe designs are. If you’re not familiar with him, you soon will be. In fact, as a company, “Walter Steiger” has been around since the early 1930s, but it was Walter Steiger junior who brought popularity and momentum to the brand, introducing it in boutiques in fashion capitals around the world. These little pieces of heaven can be purchased exclusively in Walter Steiger locations around the globe, but before you know it, his collection will be available in a Bergdorf Goodman near you. High quality and less-than-ordinary designs make a Walter Steiger shoe unique and easily recognizable. There’s no denying that crazy arch separating heel and shoe, giving any piece of footwear from the W.S. collection a high-fashion distinction. No wonder we can never have enough shoes.

Although it has been over two years since the fascinating Alexander McQueen passed away, his mind-blowing fashion monstrosities continue to live on, and will forever. I’ve posted several times about the fashion God’s creations in the past, but this time I felt it necessary to blog about some of the McQueen press highlights featured in Vogue, Interview, W, and I-D magazines. I found the high-fashion ensembles and the images alone to be captivating at the very least. Most adjectives can’t quite describe the amount of originality, creativity, and true understanding of couture that goes into every single one of his designs. It’s always nice to take a step back and appreciate some of the greatest designers that lay out the foundation of fashion for the rest of us.

ImageBold black & white stripes; yellow python print; and leopard trim.. these mesh!? Well, whether they do or not, this Giuseppe Zanotti pump looks super fierce and undoubtedly grabbed my attention. I’ve always said not to mix TOO MANY patterns, as in more than two at a time, but there are always exceptions in fashion, right? The pop of yellow in the heel is what makes this shoe unique and being courageous enough to throw in an entirely different print as the trim makes this one fashion forward piece of footwear.

You’re never supposed to pick up a shard of glass with your bare hands, right? A standard rule of thumb and some common sense would tell any person that. However, you can go ahead and dispose of that common sense because Bally has now made it fashionable. The Bally Ponga box-like clutches are little pieces of art and major statements of style. Adorned with a cute little motif for the clasp, these clutches are beautifully crafted with intricate details and yes, actual mirror shards. Others within the collection are a bit more tame, designed with swirls of applique filo rolls and leather sequins.

With the help of some creativity and courage, even the most mundane (and dangerous) objects can become next season’s big trend. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the late Alexander McQueen’s creative team concoct razor blade heels for the fall of 2012. You just wait and see.

In 1981, the inception of one of the most well-known and respected brands of fashion came to be: Guess. Today they are celebrating 30 years of stylish and sexy success and in honor of that, select stores across the country are engaging in 30th anniversary parties complete with catering, live DJs, giveaways, and rewards to customers. However, the best part about this anniversary celebration lies within the exclusive, limited edition 30th Anniversary Collection that was brought back specifically for this special time. Original patterns, designs, and fits of some of Guess’ famed original clothing is being sold once again in their original fabrics and the three decade old styles couldn’t be more amazing.

Hence the checkered, cropped pants that I cannot stop obsessing about even if I tried! The same adorable pattern trickles over into a cropped, button-down top. And yes, who can forget those ultra retro daisy pants? Throw in some original tees, a leopard top, and a bustiere that looks like it was made for Claudia Schiffer and Claudia Schiffer only, and you have some of the incredible collection to commemorate “30 sexy years” for Guess.

There is a handbag that I literally cannot get off my mind; it’s a tote by the designer Celine Vipiana and it represents nothing but sheer bliss and style beyond comprehension. I first noticed them online and became more and more curious as to who was behind the brilliant aesthetic of these purses. Although expensive, they make the perfect finishing touch on any outfit, wardrobe, or handbag collection. I think I’ll start saving every last penny that I have in hopes that one will someday be mine. The amazing structure, shape, colors, and sharp details and classic looks are not only all the components that I look for in a great bag, but they happen to represent all the ingredients in a Celine handbag. I am especially in love with the 2011 Spring Apricot and Black Calfskin Tote; the color combo can pretty much complete any look. I must say, in my opinion the Celine handbags are right up there in the rankings with a Birkin. Just saying…
