We’re officially two days away from one of fashion’s most exciting and celebrated nights in history! September always marks a huge time for all players in the fashion world; some of the biggest fashion magazine issues hit the stands, designers and brands alike are given a new slate for fashion (out with summer, in with autumn), and runway shows and fashion events hit cities everywhere to commence a new and highly anticipated season in fashion. It only makes sense to have a night out with fashion in the first week of September, right? On Thursday, September 6th (a day after my birthday, yes!) models, celebrities, designers, editors, and those who just have a profound love for fashion will join together in countries and cities around the world to enjoy and indulge in Fashion’s Night Out, an evening of fashion-filled goodness.

What can you expect for FNO? For one, certain retailers will be taunting the masses with gobs of limited edition products. Depending on your location, you can also expect special celebrity appearances, performances, runway shows, and dozens of activities and events all pertaining to what else but fashion. Follow the link that I posted below for more details and information about FNO near you:

Never in a million years would I think a “denim on denim” trend would be something to pick up momentum and completely blow up on the fashion scene. Once a fashion faux pas, the popular concept of layering on all different washes and styles of denim clothing is now a big hit for the fall. It’s one of those style trends that you can’t really fathom being appealing (or copacetic in the world of fashion, for that matter) until you witness it for yourself. I mean come on, wasn’t it once an axiom to know that wearing denim from head to toe was just shameful on so many levels? Hence the somewhat derogatory terms “Canadian tuxedo” and “denim sandwich”. Most wouldn’t be caught dead reveling in that fashion error; but low and behold, some how and some way the “double denim” trend has broken new ground and is not, admittedly, all that horrible.

In fact, I actually like the look of it, when done correctly of course. Gone are the days of outdated oversized denim jackets paired with your too old Levi’s; now, become acquainted with more fitted and tapered styles of both denim pants as well as cropped jackets and simple denim-resembling tops. Layering and mixing different styles and lighter and darker washes of all these denim pieces make for a nice day outfit for the fall. Still don’t believe me? Check it out for yourself with these denim-on-denim looks by Guess. I’m sure you’ll soon be as convinced as I am.

This time of year is the most exciting yet most frustrating for me at the same time – I’m excited at the thought of fall being right around the corner but knowing that it’s too soon to start reveling in fall fashion is infuriating to the core, to say the least. Although it may surprisingly be a bit too soon to start doing all of your fall shopping, it’s never too soon to start stocking up on oversized, super comfy, stylish sweaters. We still have yet to see all of the amazing trends for the fall season; of course we’ve seen the sneak-peaks and previews and it’s obvious by the way of color and prints how our wardrobes may be for the upcoming season, but there’s still so much to behold that I try to put my shopping off until at least mid-September. However, you can never go wrong with a sweater for this time of year and despite any and all trends, a sweater in any shape or color is a staple for your closet. As the season draws closer, I’ll make some recommendations on who may have the better selections for these classic frocks, but as for now, if you do see a great pre-season sweater in your shopping travels, don’t pass it by – you’ll always get plenty of use out of it.

We all know that fashion and beauty go hand-in-hand; that’s pretty much a given. However, they’re not the exact same thing but it’s tough to have one without the other. As I’ve mentioned in the past, I absolutely love Lauren Conrad’s Style guide so when I found out that she’s coming out with an appropriately titled book, Beauty, which is an all access “how to” for all things hair and makeup, I was beyond excited and had to share with all you avid bloggers and fashion fanatics. I think it’s a great idea that she’s willing to share the tips and tricks she’s picked up through her journey in the world of entertainment and fashion. In her book, Style, she briefly touched upon advice pertaining to makeup recommendations and tutorials on hairstyles that are basic for all occasions in life. The idea of expanding upon this in an entire manual of its own is something that I look forward to and I’m sure most of you will, too! The book hits stores October 16th.

Call me crazy, but I have the feeling that nontraditional, somewhat eccentric leggings may be a bit of a craze this season..

And these particular leggings by BCBGMAXAZRIA top my list at the moment. They’re crazy geometric and fabulous; gotta love ’em!

You’re never supposed to pick up a shard of glass with your bare hands, right? A standard rule of thumb and some common sense would tell any person that. However, you can go ahead and dispose of that common sense because Bally has now made it fashionable. The Bally Ponga box-like clutches are little pieces of art and major statements of style. Adorned with a cute little motif for the clasp, these clutches are beautifully crafted with intricate details and yes, actual mirror shards. Others within the collection are a bit more tame, designed with swirls of applique filo rolls and leather sequins.

With the help of some creativity and courage, even the most mundane (and dangerous) objects can become next season’s big trend. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the late Alexander McQueen’s creative team concoct razor blade heels for the fall of 2012. You just wait and see.
