A new trend that I’ve spotted on websites and famous fashion blogs like Harper’s Bazaar Report Blog is something fun and a bit refreshing to the traditional wardrobe: colored denim. Now I am fully aware that many people have a great aversion to colored denim because they fear that they will make the rest of an outfit “clash” or that they “just don’t look right” and God forbid if they attract a little extra attention! Well, I’m here to tell you that colored denim is nothing to be feared. Clowns and the bogeyman are fearful but plum pant is not. Shown below is a picture of Bazaar’s senior web editor and she’s wearing a raspberry shade of high rise flare jeans. Believe it or not, they’re from The Gap and although not always my first stop shop for denim prospects, I can honestly say that I absolutely love this look and the color is amazing for spring. You can easily pair this with any light neutral, such as white, ivory, beige, fawn, chocolate brown, almond, etc. and some sort of flirty top or trench (shown here) would work perfectly. A light blazer in lieu of the trench would work just fine and you can even do a loose tank with a chunkier belt and top it off with big, statement earrings for a retro twist. That’s not to say that you should run out and substitute all your classic denim for every color of the rainbow because I can’t quite imagine tangerine denim looking too great on anyone. But you never know! The question still remains: Adore or Ignore?
Without a doubt, adore!
