I was inspired to address this particular issue due to something that I did tonight for another person; I cleaned out my closets and dresser drawers and donated a bag full of clothes, belts, and even a winter coat to a girl who is going through a tough time that really needs it. There are thousands of individual people and families in the world who are without homes, food, shelter, clothing, etc. and it seems to be even more devastating in the wintertime near the holidays. I feel like we should all spread a little joy by cleaning out our closets and making it a point to donate what you no longer wear to a girl (or anyone) who would love to dress in stylish clothes but can’t afford to. It’s something that makes people feel good that they will be fortunate for and it’s also something that you can be proud to do!
So take a half hour on a rainy Sunday and clean out your closet; it can make a difference! Once you’ve done this, there are so many places you can bring your clothes to. Goodwill at your local church is one. Also, donating them to people or families in your community who you may know of personally are always great options. You can bring them to consignment or thrift shops, the Salvation Army, stores and websites dedicated to collecting and selling quality secondhand clothing for less, and other organizations. It may not dawn on you but selling them on eBay is great too because those tight on money who are looking to still do holiday shopping for others can bid on your items and win them for a fraction of what you originally paid.
Check out this link with tons of great information and places you can turn to for donating your clothes. It’s funny, I listed all of my suggestions before coming across this and reading through it and a lot of what they offer or recommend is what I happened to recommend as well! It’s something everyone should take into consideration so set aside some time and make a difference!
