Another great point about layering that I want to credit The Today Show with that I caught this morning in their style segment is the fact that when you do layer clothing, which again I love, recommend, and we all do too often in the colder weather, refrain from layering clothing all of the same style but especially length and shape. If you layer pieces all made from the same fabric and they’re all cut the same with similar lengths, it will just add bulk to your body and it will actually take away from the fact that you’ve layered pieces for a stylish look. A good example of layering properly would be to wear a silk button-down, high neck shirt that is light and colorful paired with a neutral cardigan that falls lower on the body than the other shirt does and one that you can button at the smallest part of the waist for better proportion and a cleaner layered look. A basic cotton shirt with a cardigan, shawl, sweater, jacket, or any other types of tops or throw-overs is great but when the look gets too heavy then you know you’re over-doing it.
Also, I came across these quotes by designers that I thought were worth posting 🙂
“A woman’s dress should be like a barbed- wire fence: serving its purpose without obstructing the view.” -Sophia Loren
“I don’t design clothes. I design dreams.” -Ralph Lauren
“I don’t do fashion. I am fashion.” -Coco Chanel
