After a great weekend of crazy celebration of the holiday with my boyfriend and friends, I’m back to normalcy mode and want to share another summer quick tip with everyone! I couldn’t help but notice while being at the beach that so many people wear shorts that just are not right for them! I was never a fan of them myself because I felt they weren’t flattering; they either didn’t look right or they didn’t fit correctly and you have to be so careful with denim shorts because if they’re too long, it’s a very outdated, unstylish look, and if they’re too short to the point where the interior of the pockets are visible under the hem of your shorts, well, we all know how that can look (unless of course you’re wearing them with a swimsuit on the beach, then it’s acceptable!) So here are some tips on the right way to wear shorts and feel confident, stylish, and cool in the hot summer weather:
A. Try a jumper on for size! This is one of my other summer addictions! I cannot get enough of these. For those unfamiliar, a jumper is basically a one-piece garment where the top is like a loose tank, camisole, or other blouse of some sort attached right into the shorts, that fit well, not too tight or too loose, and usually have a belt or drawstring at the waist.
B. Fitted shorts that cut off at the knee, and typically when this is done in white, black, beige, or brown is when it looks best. Again, don’t do a blue or navy denim short that frays at the bottom or anything. Something more professional that can be worn to work will work for you on a daily basis!
C. My favorite and top recommendation: Cargo and dressy shorts! The kind for women are so stylish and perfect for summertime weather. You can try a long style, which again cuts off at the knee, and they’ll typically have ties, so wearing them loose or tapered at the bottom will work, too (either option always looks even better when paired with heels or wedges!) Also, a mid-thigh cargo-style with a chunky belt (or not necessarily with a belt) is cute, casual, and easy.
